SAN FRANCISCO, CA – June 15, 2022 – Fandom, the world's largest fan platform, today announced the launch of two new programs - Fandom Stars and Admin+ - that provide mentorship and recognition as well as unique professional development courses for the platform's top creators. These new initiatives highlight the passion, skills, and contributions of community administrators and editors across Fandom's 250,000 wiki communities and the company's commitment to tech and creative growth.
Fandom Stars Program - this newly revamped program recognizes and amplifies Fandom's most prolific creators & wiki platform contributors who mentor other creators, grow the community and guide the community discussion.
Admin+ - Fandom's three-part certification program that provides professional development accreditation opportunities to Fandom's community administrators.
"I'm thrilled to launch these programs that lift up the remarkable group of fans dedicated to building these amazing communities on Fandom," said Perkins Miller, CEO of Fandom. "Strong collaboration and partnership with our creators is core to our values, and providing training, development and recognition opportunities to our passionate editors and admins is just one way to honor their incredible contributions."
FANDOM STARS PROGRAM
The Fandom Stars Program aims to increase collaboration among Fandom's top creators and provide new opportunities for content development and platform evolution.
Fandom Stars serve as ambassadors of the Fandom community and are able to experience one-of-a-kind opportunities only found at Fandom.
The new class of Fandom Stars were announced at the company's largest creator event of the year, Community Connect, in Los Angeles in May, and include creators who moderate and oversee Fandom's Wookieepedia, Memory Alpha, Avatar: The Last Airbender, League of Legends, Call of Duty, RuPaul's Drag Race, Elder Scrolls, and the LGBTQIA+ wikis.
Visit the official Fandom Stars website here for more details.
STARS PROGRAM BENEFITS:
Admin Mentorship: Monthly workshops dedicated to mentoring fellow users who want to develop their coding, content, and creative skill sets. Led by members of Fandom Stars, these workshops are open to all Fandom wiki community users to engage with and learn from creators.
Product Ambassadors: Serving as Fandom platform ambassadors, Stars will be able to provide feedback, monitor wiki pages, adopt creator tools, and support new users in learning more about Fandom's platform.
Creator Workshops: Creator Workshops are a quarterly series led by professional creators sharing tips and tools to help Stars develop their content and skills.
In-Person & Virtual Events: Fandom Stars will provide exclusive experiences for creators to interact with their favorite IPs at events, cons, screenings and other entertainment & gaming events throughout the year.
Award & Recognition Program (Fandees): "And the Fandee goes to…" The Fandees is an annual program that honors creators and highlights their unique and creative contributions to their respective communities.
ADMIN+ ACCREDITATION
Admin+ is a one-of-a-kind accreditation program that recognizes and validates the skills and dedication of Fandom wiki admins.
The goal of this initiative is to create a new industry standard for platform contributors and the future of user-generated content.
Upon completion, Fandom creators will receive an official certification via third party company Credly, that can help further their skills and qualifications for professional growth outside of Fandom.
Unique to Fandom, these opt-in courses allow admins to strengthen their skills and be coached across three areas of wiki development & management:
Technical: Fandom's platform powers people's fandoms and we have the creator tools necessary to make all of that happen! This course offers a greater understanding of what technical capabilities are available on Fandom, as well as how and when to use them.
Content: Written articles, uploaded images, categories, and more - it takes all of these things to create a beautiful resource for fans to explore. This program reviews how to create appropriate and structured content for a Fandom wiki.
Community: Community is the backbone of Fandom. This course dives into the most vital parts of how to build and maintain a healthy community on the Fandom platform including fostering healthy online interactions, how to create a welcoming and inclusive environment.
"Fandom's wiki communities have grown tremendously over the past few years, reaching more than 300 million fans each month, so we decided now was the perfect time to bring back the Stars program to celebrate the creators who help make this all possible," said Brandon Rhea, VP of Community at Fandom. "With the addition of Admin+, these programs allow us to foster even closer partnerships with our wiki communities, recognize the incredible work of the top creators on our platform and lift up the next generation of content creators who will help us build a better platform for years to come."
