Data Also Uncovers The Best Potential Bundling Options Based on Genre and Fan Overlap

San Francisco, CA – March 25, 2025 – As the streaming landscape evolves with increasing consolidation and bundling, Fandom, the world’s largest fan platform, released new insights that identifies Peacock as the overall streaming platform best positioned for other major streamers to consider merging with for optimal retention and content enhancement. With 350M monthly visitors and over 50 million pages of content across its portfolio of brands (including GameSpot, TV Guide and Metacritic), Fandom leveraged its proprietary first-party data - FanDNA - and analyzed streaming platform engagement and genre preferences to reveal that Peacock’s diverse content library makes it a natural complement to other leading services. The data also explored the larger streaming landscape to see which other bundles or mergers would be most popular among fans.

Fandom’s data, based on site visitation and how popular series overindex with fans across 300 subgenres, underscores Peacock’s strategic value in a combined streaming offering. While platforms like Netflix and Disney+/Hulu command the most engagement among Fandom users, Peacock’s unique content strengths set it apart.

  • With a robust portfolio of reality programming (driven by Bravo), medical and crime procedural dramas, and combat sports entertainment (including WWE), Peacock consistently overindexes in these categories compared to its competitors.

  • In fact, Fandom users who are fans of Peacock content overindex in 88 of the 300 subgenres Fandom examined. They are more likely to be interested in these subgenres than other Fandom users:
    • Cop dramas: 15x

    • Police procedurals: 13x

    • Suspense Mysteries: 12x

    • Computer-generated (CG) animation: 8x

    • Combat sport: 7x

As the industry moves toward more strategic bundling and partnerships, Fandom’s data shows that Peacock would uniquely enhance the value proposition of any major streaming platform, particularly Disney+/Hulu and Netflix.

Peacock & Disney+/Hulu:

  • The synergy is particularly evident in the case of Disney+/Hulu, which historically hosted a substantial portion of NBCUniversal’s content until its migration to Peacock in 2022.

  • Fandom users who are fans of Disney+/Hulu content are more likely to be interested in these subgenres than other Fandom users:
    • Superhero sci-fi: 37x

    • Space sci-fi: 20x

    • Epi sci-fi: 18x

    • For grown-ups animation: 11x

    • Supernatural fantasy: 10x

  • Peacock, with 23M average page views per month on Fandom, overindexes in 88 of the 300 popular subgenres identified by Fandom; 21 of those subgenres are currently missing from Disney+/Hulu.

  • Adding Peacock’s 21 unique subgenres to Disney+/Hulu’s 71 popular subgenres would create a package of 159 subgenres that fans love, introducing a complementary mix of content, creating a powerhouse streaming package.

  • Disney+/Hulu’s top-performing subgenres—such as superhero sci-fi, space sci-fi, sitcoms, and animated series—would be diversified by Peacock’s strengths in reality television, procedural dramas, and sports entertainment.

Peacock & Netflix:

  • Fandom users who are fans of Netflix content overindex for 70 of the 300 subgenres Fandom examined. They are more likely to be interested in these subgenres than other Fandom users:
    • Supernatural fantasy: 11x

    • 2D animation: 10x

    • Computer-generated animation: 10x

    • For-grown-ups animation: 9x

    • Superhero action: 8x

  • With supernatural fantasy, animated content, and superhero action leading its 70 popular subgenres, Netflix would benefit from Peacock’s 38 distinct subgenres, greeting a package of 108 distinct offerings, further enriching its content diversity.
